Hitachi appoints VP for worldwide HDD manufacturing

Hitachi Global Storage Technologies recently announced the appointment of Thao A Nguyen as vice president of worldwide hard disk drive (HDD) manufacturing. Nguyen will lead three Hitachi GST HDD manufacturing facilities in Thailand, Singapore and Shenzhen. Nguyen will be based in Shenzhen, where he will be the most senior executive overseeing HDD manufacturing, a clear sign of the company's commitment to China.  read more »

Forrester: IT must prove need for disaster recovery tools

Mozy online backup service comes to Mac

IDC: Amount of global digital information is growing

Global digital information (the digital universe) amounted to 281 billion gigabytes (GB) (281 exabytes) in 2007, or almost 45 GB of digital information for every person on earth, according to EMC-sponsored research by IDC. The figure is 10 percent more than the previous estimate, and is expected to hit 1.8 zettabytes (1,800 exabytes) in 2011.  read more »
